Apple Computer Inc.’s decision to replace the DVD-ROM devices available in earlier versions with CD-RW was met with puzzlement by fans at the Macworld Expo/Tokyo. According to ZDNet News, most of those polled would prefer the DVD drive. Moreover, analysts questioned whether consumers shouldn’t have been given the option of CD-RW or DVD-ROM. Japanese opinion probably is influenced by the fact that third-party, external CD-RW drives are common there and Minidiscs are a popular storage media for music.
