U.S. Robotics may be the first analog modem maker to complete tests of modem chips based on the new V.92 standard. The company’s modems are expected to ship by the end of this quarter, delivering faster uploads and connection times. They will also allow users to take short voice calls while online. Analysts say that most people will still be using analog modems through 2004 at least.
