Via Technologies to rebate DDR SDRAM

Boise-based Micron Technology Inc. is showing off a prototype chipset designed to use double data rate (DDR) memory and Intel Corp.’s Pentium III processors aimed at entry-level servers. The initial Copperhead chipset supports up to 8 gigabytes of DDR 200 or 266 synchronous DRAM memory, and has both a PCI-X bus and a 64-bit PCI 2.2 bus. The Copperhead chipset technology was jointly developed by Micron and Intel based on an agreement made last year. Samples will become available before mid-year with production ramping up afterwards.
