NEC-Mitsubishi Announces Three New Monitors

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. today announced that it has enhanced three new SuperBright Diamondtron flat aperture grille CRT monitors with an advanced SpectraView Color Calibration Solution that delivers more accurate, consistent and repeatable color performance. The new 19″ (18″ viewable) Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930 SB and 22″ (20″ viewable) NEC MultiSync FP2141 SB and Mitsubishi Diamond Pro DP2070 SB monitors with SpectraView Color Calibration Solutions feature a re-attachable hood, a patented SpectraView USB color calibrator, a special USB to DDC-CI video cable and exclusive SpectraView color calibration software. With superior cross-platform color-matching capabilities, the new SpectraView Color Calibration Solution allows NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display to introduce its first Mac OSX compatible monitors.

“NEC-Mitsubishi developed the new generation of SpectraView Color Calibration Solution with Mac OSX compatibility to meet the evolving color performance needs of graphics professionals that require cross-platform color-matching and color conferencing capabilities,” said Andrés Maldonado, CRT Product Line Manager, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. “As a founding player in the CRT monitor industry, NEC-Mitsubishi fuses leading display technology with the latest color matching solution to produce the most true-to-life visual experience that allows users to enhance their productivity and reduce overall costs.

Designed to enable users to make quick and simple color adjustments to their monitor, SpectraView uses a tri-stimulus colorimeter for on-screen color measurements and a custom software that links the input and output devices. As the monitor control commands are made directly through the Display Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) communications channel, users easily manipulate the RGB gains for better luminance and sharp black colors. Compared to systems that only use a video card to make adjustments, the monitors’ digital control reduces the chance for human error when adjusting the screen settings and provides more frequent calibration routines and quick measurements of five per second at absolute white or black.

The SpectraView system also enables users to accurately match the colors displayed on their monitor screen with the colors that appear in their output, reducing expensive and time-consuming guesswork. By creating a reusable ICC profile that measures the monitor’s color, the SpectraView system can provide consistent images and assist in matching colors from monitor-to-monitor as well as to peripheral devices.

SpectraView also measures the monitor’s red, green and blue phosphors, which are then adjusted by display gamma and white point values for optimal current ambient light.

“The graphics industry strives to capture true-to-life images on screen, thereby driving the evolution of CRT monitor technology with new innovations in color design,” said Bob O’Donnell, Research Director, Device Technology at IDC. “Color calibration kits for CRT monitors provide a one-stop color solution for even the most demanding creative professionals, helping to improve their productivity and end results.”

Additional features of the NEC MultiSync FP2141 SB-BK-SV, Mitsubishi DP930 SB-BK-SV and DP2070 SB-BK-SV monitors:
