Neil Gaiman's American Gods Heading to Starz

Neil Gaiman’s work has had a hard time translating to the big screen, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a movie version of The Sandman in development, and now comes the news that American Gods, his acclaimed novel, is headed to the Starz network.

As Uproxx reports, American Gods was originally going to be on HBO, but they couldn’t nail down the script, but now Gods has indeed gotten the greenlight at Starz because the network is happy with what Bryan Fuller (the showrunner for Hannibal) has come up with for the series.

The CEO of Starz has said in a statement, “We hope to create a series that honors the book and does right by the fans, who have been casting it in their minds for years.”

As for Gaiman, he’s very excited as well, saying he’s “thrilled, scared, delighted, nervous, and a ball of glorious anticipation. The team that is going to bring the world of American Gods to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie: I’m relieved and confident that my baby is in good hands.”
