Data Blasts Across Atlantic in Super-Speed Test

Just as the super-fast Concord transatlantic jetliner retires, researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have set a new speed milestone – this time for data transmission. Astronomy data traveled from Chicago to Amsterdam at 6.8 gigabits per second – 6,800 times faster than the one-megabit per second Internet connection most companies have.
