Inauguration day ceremony captured in satellite pics
Washington (DC) - High resolution satellites were able to see through the clear skies on Inauguration Day and capture some amazing overhead views of the activity.
GeoEye-1 is the most powerful commercial imaging satellite in the sky. It is currently orbiting at 423 miles above the Earth's surface. Its optics can discern objects 16 inches in size. And yesterday, it was used to captured images which now appear on Popular Science's website.
The images have a been re-sampled to a resolution of approximately 19.6 inches per pixel. Still impressive.
