APM subsidiary to mass produce digital g-sensors in 1Q09

  • Apm Communication (Apmcomm), a subsidiary of Asia Pacific Microsystems (APM) invested by United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), has begun mass production of analog MEMS accelerometers (g-sensors), and it is developing digital g-sensors, with volume production expected in the first quarter of 2009, according to industry sources. Since Apmcomm is well established in the wireless telecommunication segment, the company will not only provide g-sensors, but also g-sensor modules integrated with its wireless telecommunication technologies, aiming at the white-box consumer electronics market in China, indicated the sources.
