LCD panel makers to cut output by 20-30% in Q4

  • With the global economy continuing to show signs of slowing, LCD players estimate that panel makers will continue to cut their output in the fourth quarter, with the production drop perhaps reaching 20-30% and continuing into the first quarter of 2009, according to market sources. In terms of related layoffs, LCD panel makers such as AU Optronics (AUO), Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) have denied any plans to layoff workers, but the companies have all shown signs of adjusting their labor resources.
