There is nothing like a total solar eclipse to bring you to your knees, gapping at the sheer overwhelming immensity and majesty of the solar system. I saw my first in 2001 in Zambia, Africa and have never been the same. Over 10,000 people trekked the 16 hour bus ride into inland China to be in the path of totality for this solar eclipse. Although the path would start in Canada and also cross over Greenland, Russia and Mongolia, China was predicted to have the most reliably cloud free weather. For full solar eclipse watching clear skies are everything.
