New York (NY) - According to a shop.org survey, three-fourths of all online retailers have special deals designed for today, Cyber Monday.
Cyber Monday was a term coined a few years ago to denote the online response to retailers' Black Friday sales. It has since gained in notoriety and in participation.
Unlike Black Friday, Cyber Monday deals were kept as secrets and not very easily leaked to the public ahead of time. "Cyber Monday deals were kept largely under wraps until late Sunday afternoon and in some cases, until midnight this morning, because retailers didn't want to show their next hand -- they wanted the weekend promotions to play out," said AOL Consumer spokesperson Regina Lewis.
