San Francisco (CA) - Another admittance of defeat for Yahoo came late yesterday after the site announced it will shut down its photo sharing service. Users will be asked to migrate their images to Flickr, also owned by Yahoo.
Yahoo will send an e-mail to all registered Yahoo Photos users and will mention several other competing sites, including Photobucket and MySpace, reports Reuters.
Yahoo Photos was pulling in market share numbers of around 5% and has been dropping. Flickr, on the other hand, is on an upswing but still has about the same share as Photos.
Photobucket, the market leader in online image storage, has more than twice the number of users as Yahoo Photos.
