Japan ready to move to Super Hi-Vision TV by 2025

  • As part of its preparation for its bid for the 2016 Olympics Game in Tokyo, Japan will carry out test broadcasting in Super Hi-vision in 2015, and the nation is expected to have super hi-vision broadcasting within a decade from then. Although HDTV is now moving beyond the start-up phase and some market observers believe that present TV quality is already capable of meeting general consumer demand, Kenkichi Tanioka from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) science & technical research laboratories believes substantial development room still exists.
