AT&T to offer free HD channels to new subscribers

  • Philadelphia (PA) - AT&T announced this week that it will offer 25 high definition channels free for 12 months to anyone who signs up for its new U-verse service.

It's a move for AT&T to try to get its TV service off the ground after its initial launch attracted very few subscribers.  It's also the first new subscriber incentive for a national satellite TV provider that is focused on HD channels.

U-verse currently operates in 22 states.  The free HD offer will also be available to AT&T users who sign up for DirecTV or Dish Network.  The deal is good until June 30, 2007.
