Taipei (Taiwan) - Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) is a Taiwan-based maker of solar-grade crystalline silicon wafers. They are expecting to see growth of at least 30% in 2009 on new orders from Sharp and other European clients.



SAS is currently finishing up constructing on a new factory which will open in March, producing 500 million wafers per year in northern Taiwan.

Solar silicon wafer makers have recently had a hit in Chinese news. The government will be forcing smaller companies to consolidate into larger ones. As of December 31, 2008, 6" poly-silicon solar wafers are selling for US$6 each in bulk.
