An industry-wide trend among wafer foundries is showing a slow down in recruitment, with some companies even looking to lay off staff. Following a speculated reshuffle of its executives in mid-August, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has reportedly kicked off plans to reduce its payroll of low-level employees, according to market sources.
