T-Mobile USA is taking the wraps off of a Wi-Fi-enabled smartphone, dubbed the T-Mobile Dash. The device will be available exclusively from T-Mobile beginning Oct. 25.

Intel quad-core QX6700 reaches system builders

Chicago (IL) - Intel has begun shipping its first quad-core processor "Kentsfield," which will be officially called Core 2 Extreme QX6700 to system builders. Industry sources have confirmed to TG Daily that the processor has entered a stage of system testing, which indicates that the processors is on track for a mid-November launch.

Beam music from your Ipod to your stero with Belkin's TuneStage II

Belkin announced a new version of its TuneStage Bluetooth music system which beams music to home stereo systems. The TuneStage II uses a small transmitter on the Ipod and a receiver that is wired to stereo system. Users can search their playlists, adjust volume and play music from up to 30 feet away from the receiver.

The DVD Forum plans to draw up a blue-laser HD DVD-ROM format specifically for and only available in the China market in response to the request by two China-based organizations, the government-sponsored Optical Memory National Engineering Research Center (OMNERC) and the state-run China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC).

Symbol introduces new wearable computer

Symbol Technologies has released a new computer that can be worn on either the hip or the wrist. The WT400 line of computers have a 2.8" 320 by 240 pixel screen, 128 MB of RAM and use an Intel XScale PXA270 520 MHz processor. Designed to be used mainly as a product scanner in busy stockrooms, the computers are ruggedized against bumps and 4-foot drops to concrete.

Toshiba announces new line of desktop replacement laptops

Toshiba has announced a new line of desktop replacement laptops sporting Intel's Core 2 Duo processor and external TV tuners. The Satellite P105 series has a 17-inch display and weighs 7.1 pounds. Two models in the line, the P105-S6124 and S6134 will have USB external TV tuners and be loaded with Windows XP Media Center 2005. They will use the 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 along with 2 GB of DDR2 and either a 160 or 200 GB Serial-ATA hard drive.

Microsoft ending support for Windows XP Service Pack 1

Microsoft is going to end support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 and 1a next Tuesday. The company will only give critical updates and security fixes for users who have or upgrade to Service Pack 2.

F-Secure has announced a new version of the Internet Security protection suite that promises to protect against Zero-Day exploits. Internet Security 2007 will have so-called "DeepGuard" technology that analyzes newly installed programs and stops them if anything suspicious is found. The company claims the new system is more proactive and can stop previously unknown threats.

Netgear wireless routers to support WiFi User Protection Bill

Netgear has announced that it will support the protection measures in the "WiFi User Protection Bill" recently signed into law in California. Last week, Governor Schwarzenegger signed the bill which requires access point manufacturers to include warnings in the configuration menus and stickers on the retail boxes. Presumably, future Netgear routers would include such warnings.

OCZ rolls out 600 watt modular power supply

The PSU will hopefully lessen cable clutter because only the necessary power cables need to be attached.
