Centrino 2 launch to boost shipments of 802.11 devices

  • Taiwan network-equipment makers are expected to see their shipments of 802.11n devices increase significantly in the second half of this year following Intel's launch of its Centrino 2 platform early this week, according to sources at the makers. Although sales of 802.11n products in the retail channels in the North American market might by affected by the financial crisis facing the two mortgage giants, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, shipments of built-in 802.11n modules for notebooks are expected to expand more robustly, the sources noted.
