Commerce Secretary’s laptop could have been cloned during China trip

  • Washington DC – The Commerce Department is investigating whether Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez’s laptop was compromised while he visited Beijing for trade talks in December.  According to the Associated Press, unnamed sources believe Gutierrez accidently left his laptop unattended.  Chinese agents supposedly either copied specific files or just imaged the entire drive.  Commerce officials say the pilfered information could have been used to hack into various governmental websites.

Now you’ve got to be thinking, why would any US government official leave their government-issued laptops unattended in China of all places.
