E-mail malware takes a break in August

  • Security company Sophos said that the month of August saw a dramatic drop in malware spreading (in the form of email attachments). The company found that only 1 in 1000 emails was infected with malware, compared to 1 in 322 during the first six month of this year.

    The total number of malware-hosting webpages, however, contiunues to grow. Sophos said that it detected and average of 5000 new infected webpages every day in August, compared to an average of 6000 every day in July.
