Global GSM/WCDMA/HSPA subscribers top 2.5 billion mark in 2Q07, says GSA

  • The total number of global subscribers of GSM/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA mobile services topped 2.54 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2007, with about one billion, or 39.4%, of subscribers located in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). The number of new subscribers to GSM/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA services increased by 564 million within a year ended June 30, 2007, whereas the number of new CDMA subscribers increased by 51 million during the same period, the GSA said.
