Sprint and Clearwire partner up on WiMax

  • Kansas City (MO) – Sprint Nextel will be teaming up with Clearwire Corp. to rollout a nationwide WiMax network.  The partnership will allow Sprint to split costs and management responsibility of the network which is projected to cost $3 billion to build.

    Sprint will pay 70% of the costs, while Clearwire will pay the remainder.  The partnership will last 20-years and will include 3 10-year renewal periods.
