Intel phases out all remaining Netburst Xeon DP processors

  • Santa Clara (CA) – Intel has sent all four remaining Xeon DP processors with the 65 nm Dempsey core into its product discontinuance program.

    Intel has notified its customers that the Xeon DP 5000 series will slowly being phased out over a period of three years. The dual-core CPUs with the model numbers 5080 (3.73 GHz, 130w, FSB1066), 5060 (3.2 GHz, 130w, FSB1066), 5050 (3.0 GHz, 95w, FSB667) and 5063 (3.2 GHz, 95w, SB1066) can be ordered until January 11, 2008.

    Last shipments of boxed Xeon 5000-series processors are scheduled for April 11, 2008 and tray processors for July 16, 2010. Intel justified the phasing out of the processors with market demand that has shifted to higher performance processors.

    Two Dempsey processors, the FSB667 models 5030 (2.67 GHz) and 5040 (2.87 GHz), already have been phased and are not available anymore.
