Foster City (CA) - Sony has unveiled its latest Vaio notebook computer to come pre-installed with a Blu-ray Disc (BD) player. The Vaio FZ also sports a Location Free player and an HDMI connector.
With the HDMI port, users can hook the computer up to an HDTV to watch Blu-ray movies on screens larger than the 15.4 inch one on the computer.
The Location Free player allows playback of music and other media files on compatible devices, including Sony's own Playstation Portable handheld.
In addition, the FZ has built-in 802.11n wireless LAN technology and comes with Windows Vista. An integrated camera and microphone are also included with the computer. Other specs vary among the eight different available models.
The premium version of the laptop will incorporate a BD burner and Sony's premiere Xbrite HiColor display.
Available within the next week or so, pricing for the FZ will begin at $1400, with the top-of-the-line version going for around $2000.
