Markham (ON) – AMD’s graphics division today announced its April driver package for Radeon-based graphics cards.
Catalyst 7.4 does not include any bugfixes, but addresses performance enhancements and new features in Windows Vista. According to the company, the new driver will increase OpenGL performance under Vista for all X1000-series graphics cards. Users should see typical improvements of about 15% in game titles such as Doom 3, Quake 4 and Prey with enthusiast cards and configurations approaching 30%, AMD said.
The driver also comes with the Avivo Video Converter for Windows Vista, which enables users to convert videos from one format. Supported output formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4/DivX, WMA and H.264/AVC.
The software is available for download from AMD’s website.
