Dell to roll out Linux on future computers

  • Round Rock (TX) - After requests, rumors, and unofficial announcements, Dell officially announced that it will begin offering Linux on select desktop and notebook PCs.

Dell will announce full details later, but a message on the PC maker's official site confirms that the company will "expand our Linux support beyond our existing servers and Precision workstation line."

The announcement comes after Dell posted a survey that asked multiple questions about its computers and Linux.  The company says that more than 70% who participated said they would use a Dell system with a Linux operating system for both home and office use.
