Cingular provided 500 billion minutes of talking in 2006
Atlanta (GA) - Cingular said it logged a record number of airtime minutes used by customers. The service provider claims that more than 500 billion minutes of conversation will have passed through its airwaves by the end of the year.
Virtually all wireless providers upped their cell phone coverage this year, Cingular included. More than 45,000 sites now have access to Cingular's service after a claimed $13 billion investment over the past two years aiming at adding and improving reception throughout the country.
According to Cingular, customers are now talking on their cell phones an average of 755 minutes per month, and its customer base has reportedly increased almost 20% over the past several months.
500 billion minutes is the equivalent of more than 950 years.
