Sonic Wall intros 3G wireless network security appliance

Sonic Wall yesterday introduced the Sonic Wall TZ 190, a network security appliance for 3G wireless broadband connections.

The product can be used to establish secure 3G wireless broadband access in any location by inserting a Sonic Wall approved Type II 3G wireless broadband PC card. Supported cards include Option Globetrotter GT Max and Sierra Wireless Aircard 860 for Cingular, Novatel S620 and S720 for Sprint PCS, Novatel V620 for Verizon and Option Globetrotter HSDPA and GT Max for GSM carries other than Cingular Wireless.

Applications include seasonal kiosks, mobile point-of-sale stations, portable ATM machines and disaster recovery networks.

The TZ 190's features include automated failover/failback, a deep packet inspection firewall, policy-based NAT, object-based management and DDNS. Real-time gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and anti-spam capabilities are also available

The product will ship at the end of November for about $1000.
