D-Link announces WiMAX 802.16-2005 CPE router

  • D-Link today announced its entry into the WiMAX consumer premise quipment (CPE) market with an 802.16-2005 (formerly 802.16e)-compliant WiMAX router.

    The D-Link WiMAX router is designed for service providers looking to offer wireless residential service and combines WiMAX and Wi-Fi technologies. The router supports wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) and multiple physical layer (PHY) protocols along with AES-CCM security.

    The product will be available for service provider testing in Q4, 2006, and commercially available in Q1 of 2007. Pricing was not given.
