Miley Cyrus is back on Twitter and stirring up controversy after a temporary hiatus from the social networking site.
The Twitter storm began when Cyrus tweeted a pic of her brand new ink, an equal sign symbolizing marriage for all, with the short message: “All LOVE is equal.”
Some fans seemed to disagree, however, shooting the tween star angry @ replies left and right. After one follower, @MileyCyrusLuver, questioned Cyrus’ belief in God, to which the incensed Miley responded, “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. GOD is love.”
Consider yourself served @MileyCyrusLuver.
After the angry response, Cyrus was forced to come to @MileyCyrusLuver’s rescue as supporters blasted the follower with angry tweets supporting their favorite singer’s decision to get inked.
“Dude, everyone lay off … Love u! Everyone is entitled 2 opinions! If u don’t stand 4 something you’ll fall for anything,” Cyrus responded.
Cyrus has received flack before based on her pro-gay marriage stance and other opinions, which probably encouraged the star to star resign from tweeting, if only for a little while.
The singer originally claimed she temporarily ditched Twitter to maintain some sense of privacy, but rumors say she did it for boytoy Liam Hemsworth.
Like a bad boyfriend, Cyrus couldn’t stay away from Twitter, even after preaching “I think that everyone should leave Twitter. I think Twitter should just be banned from this universe,” to Chicago’s B96 morning show.
So why did she come back? For Charlie Sheen of course! Cyrus tweeted, “Do not fear…the Sheenius is here!’ I’m not gonna lie. I came back to twitter for 2 reasons. My fans and to follow Charlie Sheen.”
Sparking new controversy with her most recent pro-gay marriage tweet and tat, Cyrus has defended her beliefs both in interviews and in the Twittersphere.
In an interview with Parade magazine, Cyrus said, “There has been so much controversy sometimes about what I’ve said or done because I believe there are no mistakes, because God is the only one who can judge us.
“That’s the reason I deleted my Twitter account because I said on there that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got such hate mail about my being a bad person,” she added.
Twitter, like all social networks, removes that buffer layer between average people (i.e. crazy fans) and the celebrities themselves. Like Cyrus, other celebrities have left the Twitterverse because the often negative attention has just been too much for them to handle.
