100 GB Xbox 360 hard drive on the way?

According to a recent story on Korean video game site Game Inside, Microsoft is working on a new hard drive for the Xbox 360 with a capacity of 100 GB, which could be used to store game saves, Xbox Live downloads, and media files.

EA announces Def Jam: Icon for PS3 and Xbox 360

Electronic Arts today announced Def Jam: Icon, a new game headed for the PS3 and Xbox 360 systems next year. Continuing the publisher's Def Jam series, Icon brings an unusual mix of fighting and music to the next generation consoles of Sony and Microsoft.

Is Sony coming back?

This has not been a great couple of years for Sony. We had the rootkit catastrophe late last year and the Sony Battery disaster this year. A number of us have been increasingly concerned that the Playstation 3 would be a stillborn and even the PSP didn't start particularly well. However things can change: It looks like Sony has hit the bottom and, and with the exception of batteries (which may be a dead division), may be on the way back up. EB Games starts Zune pre-orders

Jack Thompson loses bid to block Bully game release

A US judge has rejected Jack Thompson's bid to ban the "Bully" video game made by Take-Two. Judge Ronald Friedman has ruled that the game is not a public nuisance and will allow it to be sold in Florida. Last week, the judge Friedman ordered Take-Two to demonstrate Bully to help him make a decision. After viewing the game, Friedman said the game shows less violence that what is seen on a typical night of television.

Wii pre-orders sell out in day one

New York City recently wrapped up official celebrations of the upcoming Final Fantasy XII game. Wii preorders start tomorrow at EB Games and Gamestop

Culver City (CA) - Hardcore Nintendo fans will probably want to skip school and call in sick from work tomorrow because EB Games and GameStop will start offering pre-orders on the upcoming Nintendo Wii console. Customers will be able to reserve the new console for a $50 deposit, but they better line up quick because it's first come, first serve.

Activision to sell Call of Duty through Valve's Steam

Activision and Valve today announced a joint agreement to bring four new PC games to Valve's Steam platform, which allows users to purchase games and download them immediately. Activision's Call of Duty 2, GunT, Call of Duty, and Call of Duty: United Offensive are all now available.

GameStop/EBGames launch online digital distribution

The online stores of retail chains GameStop and EBGames have launched a new channel for PC games that are available for download immediately after being purchased. Games range from $5 simplistic, time-killer titles to the latest $50 software. Games are sorted into "casual" and "core". With a growing infatuation with casual games in the country, EBGames is trying to tap into that market, while at the same time appealing to their main target, the hardcore gamers.
