Dell debuts first Chromebook

Dell has introduced its first Chromebook, a web-centric laptop targeted at the education market. The Dell Chromebook 11 features an 11.6-inch display (1366 x 768 pixel), along with an Intel Haswell Celeron 2955U processor.

Intel launches its latest family of low-power SoCs, codenamed "Bay Trail"

The "Bay Trail" family is based on Intel's "Silvermont" architecture announced in May 2013. The Atom Z3000 Processor Series ("Bay Trail-T") is the company's first mobile multi-core SoC. Other variants include new Pentium and Celeron processors ("Bay Trail"-M and -D) that targets the laptop and desktop market.

Windows 8 tablets dogged by OS prices

Chinese white-box vendors will start churning out Windows 8 tablets in May and the ex-factory prices for 11.6-inch units are estimated at about $300. 

Shuttle preps fanless Celeron-powered PC

Shuttle is well known for its lineup of fanless x86 PCs, most of which are powered by Intel's Atom processor.
