Redmond (WA) – Microsoft jumps on the green train and says that it intends to cut almost one third of the carbon emissions caused by the company today.

Going green is an important part of corporate marketing these days, so it should not be a surprise that Microsoft is putting itself into this spotlight as well. The announcement was made in a company-email last Thursday, according to Sustainable Life Media, and promises that Microsoft will be making its buildings more energy efficient, expand the use of its communications tools and reduce the use of “resources’ in its data centers.

The company said it save about $90 million in travel costs via remote conferencing tools last year. By 2012, the company plans to have cut its carbon emissions by 30%. [Sustainable Life Media]
