Volkswagen hovercraft is a concept dream
21-year-old designer Yuhan Zhang has been generating some serious online buzz for her concept vehicle dubbed the "Volkswagen Aqua."
Although it's highly unlikely the vehicle will ever be manufactured even as a prototype, if the hovercraft were to be produced, the rear-hatch, two-seater, multi-engine transportation device would be powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology.
We've covered a host of concept designs lately, like a hybrid yacht inspired by Audi, a modified Volvo that can be charged wirelessly, a fuel cell snowmobile, and even luxury, hybrid sportscar that is being made in ultra-limited quantities from Jaguar.
Sure, we admit not very many of these design concepts will be adopted on a mass-scale, but that's not really the point. Concepts, even ones like the Volkswagen Aqua, push the boundaries of what is possible tomorrow, and from that pool of ingenuity may come a solution or idea that revolutionizes an industry.
So, please, designers, get to work on an electric car with a 300 mile range that can be refueled by clean sources in less than an hour for a price of under $20,000.
