This wind turbine charges your smartphone
In most cases, if you’re placing your cell phone near the window to re-charge, you’re relying on a solar charger to provide the juice.
In this case, however, you’re not harvesting energy for your phone from what shines through your window, but rather, what blows on the other side of it.
This turbine transmits power wirelessly to a handy charging pocket where you can deposit your phone upon returning home. As soon as the breeze picks up, you can rest assured your device will be re-charging, san coal-fired juice.
There’s an accompanying smartphone app that allows users to connect to their turbine from wherever they may happen to be in the world, and to track wind patterns and charge times (though if you have to use your phone to check how fast your phone is charging, this doesn’t seem like that great of a feature).
This kind of idea could catch on with folks just about anywhere, but particularly those apartment-dwellers who don’t have the luxury of installing permanent renewable energy where they live. Also, it’s likely to make the greenies next door jealous.
