Video: How to JAM with Google Chrome

Google has rolled out a cross-platform interactive web app that allows users in different locations to play music together on their Chrome browsers.

“When you enter JAM with Chrome you can choose from a selection of 19 different instruments, from acoustic and bass guitars to drum kits and keyboards,” explained Google exec Emma Turpin.

“Once you get playing, you can switch instruments as often and as many times as you like.”

According to Turpin, players in the default “easy mode” can experiment by clicking individual strings, drum pads or keys – or they can try out four different autoplay functions and let the machines do the work.

Meanwhile, more advanced musicians can try out “pro” mode to play any instrument using the keyboard.

JAM with Chrome is currently designated as a Chrome Experiment built around various web technologies, including HTML5 features such as the Web Audio API, Websockets, Canvas and CSS3.
