Yahoo continues its long, slow search decline

Yahoo has continued its long, slow and unsurprising decline in the search market space.

According to ComScore, the Sunnyvale-based company’s market share declined to 16.8 percent, down from 17 percent in January.

As expected, the Mountain View-based behemoth known as Google grew its market share to 65.5 percent of market share, 65.4 percent in January.

Meanwhile, Morningstar analyst Larry Witt told BizJournals that Yahoo’s competitive position had "weakened" due to slow user growth and a “fragmented” audience.

"Considering Yahoo's recent success, or lack thereof, we doubt the company will deliver a product that is compelling enough to regain its crown from Google as the largest seller of online ads," said Witt.
