Google has 5 minute outage: Internet traffic drops 40%
Between 23:52 and 23:57 BST on 16th August Google went down. The results put the fear of Google into every webmaster's heart.
GoSqaured, a company that has its own analytics platform, had noted in its Engineering Blog:
Google.com was down for a few minutes between 23:52 and 23:57 BST on 16th August 2013. This had a huge effect in the number of pageviews coming into GoSquared’s real-time tracking – around a 40% drop, as this graph of our global pageviews per minute shows.
Google's App Dashboard and messages confirmed the event. It's freaky, but we slept through the whole thing so, obviously the end of the world is easily avoided with a good night's rest.
This is one freaky chart below. All those red lights. Man!
