Las Vegas (NV) – The three French reporters who were banned for sniffing traffic in the Black Hat press room have skipped out on a scheduled press conference at Defcon. The trio captured the login data of other reporters, but say the whole thing was done as a joke and wanted to explain their position at 2PM today. Well, it’s now almost 3 PM and they haven’t shown up.
Mauro Israel, Marc Brami, and Dominique Jouniot from Global Security Mag had their press badges confiscated after admitting to sniffing traffic on the press network. Now, Brami says Israel was the real culprit and told Associated Reporter Jordan Robertson, “He thinks it's some kind of game for him. I'm very angry with him.”
Several reporters and at least one federal agent were waiting for the French reporters to arrive at 2 PM, but they seemed to have gotten cold feet.
Brami is still trying to contact Black Hat/Defcon management to set up a private meeting, but our sources tell us management won’t even bother talking to them at this point.
