It is probably safe to say that Apple had a fairly easy ride last decade when it came to cars due to the ubiquitous iPod. Similarly, when the iPhone hit the streets, Cupertino was quick to offer the hard wired integration that other phones conspicuously lacked.
Xbox One is getting Twitch integration to coincide with the release of the cool looking game Titan Fall (I haven’t played it yet).
Most of us who write about mobile are constantly searching for the next killer application. You know, that thing that folks just can’t live without. You’d think it would be something useful that would make our lives better, safer, or longer but it is, more often than not, a lot closer to Flappy Birds.
I participated in a deep dive on IBM’s Watson earlier this week and walked away realizing in a few short years there will be machines in the world that are far smarter than we are.
Today, Dell announced that it will be bolstering the company's relationship with Google and launching a Chrome-based video conferencing solution targeted at businesses.
I’ve just finished spending some serious quality time with Qualcomm's flagship Toq Smartwatch. The verdict? For a product that is basically a hardware showcase, well, there really is a lot to love.
Microsoft recently reported very strong earnings, beating the street on the top and bottom lines (revenue and profit) with strong performance with both consumer (Xbox) and Corporate products.
Wouldn’t it be great to just turn on your tablet and have the device instantly connect to a network wherever you are?
One of the more interesting presentations at CES 2014 was AMD’s Surround House 2. This was a continuation of last year’s project which put viewers in a room with flat panel windows in the midst of a kidnapping gone wrong.
There were some obvious things that I have to have like the Seiki 4K 65” TV with HD up converting for around $2,000 . But, there were tons of unusual products that seemed to be working to drain my wallet even more quickly ranging from cars to home security systems. Let’s talk about some of the ones I’ll likely buy.
This year's CES in Las Vegas should see hybrid Android and Windows devices which may be designed to give Microsoft a warning that changes need to be made. But, is this the right way to get Microsoft to wake up to the realities of the post-PC era?
I use Amazon religiously for gift giving. In fact, this year I bought gifts for everyone but my wife on Amazon, a practice which has historically worked out well. They show up wrapped and I can do all of my shopping, wrapping, and sending on one day. Yes, it’s rather brilliant.
Apple and Amazon shouldn’t be competitors, as one is a retailer and the other a hardware manufacturer. In fact, they should be partners - with Amazon selling Apple products.
I've reviewed quite a number of gadgets during 2013. Several stand out as being particularly useful, while some are just a little bit amazing.
As we ramp up to Black Friday this year, I’m up to my armpits in new tablets, so much so that I’m convinced some must be having unprotected sex and making tablet babies. Of course, each tablet has its own unique advantages and disadvantages.
The first part of this was the question going through my mind when I first unboxed the Lenovo Yoga 10 tablet. You see, historically Apple products were more about design than performance. You could always get a PC that would out perform a Mac but you’d be hard pressed to find a better looking product.
It is fairly difficult to pass a gun ban through Congress unless it is related to 3D printed firearms which Congress is moving to ban again. The NRA, which is pretty rabid about any form of gun control, is silent on this issue largely because it is funded by gun manufacturers who really don’t want people printing copies of their product rather than buying one.
I’m really not a fan of just copying someone else’s products. Yes Samsung has proven it can work but in the end it is still just a copy and it is far better to carve out your own space. That is what NVIDIA did first with Shield and now with the Tegra Note 7 which is similar in performance but rather than an integrated Tablet and Controller, this is a pure tablet.
Concept cars are cool, but what’s the use if you can’t head over to the dealership and drive one off the lot? Here are eight concept cars that might make their way onto a showroom floor near you in the future.
Much of what goes into our attraction to one tablet or other has to do with status and the perception that if you have a certain product you have arrived. The iPad Air is an impressive product if you value physical design and number of apps over all else but there are products that better target particularl uses. While the Panasonic Toughpad 4K is hardly in the iPad’s weight or size class it is ideal for those that want to create on something that is still very portable. In a world awash with iPad clones it is nice to see a vendor try to create something very different.
