Coby's 7-inch MID7065 Android tablet priced at $139
Coby has rolled out a $139, 7-inch Android-powered tablet dubbed the MID7065.
The device is fully Google Certified, meaning it ships with apps for the Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps and other software right out-of-the-box.
The specs are fairly decent indeed, especially for an entry-level Android tablet, and include a 7-inch display with a screen resolution of 1024 x 600, a 1.2 GHz Amlogic AM8726-MX dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of storage.
Additional features? Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a front-facing camera, a microSD card slot and mini HDMI port.
The folks at Liliputing say they spent some hands-on time with this little tablet at CES and the screen performance leaves a lot to be desired. Apparently, the tablet feels zippy enough as far as performance goes, but again, the screen has poor viewing angles.
The operating system for the tablet is Android 4.0 and that memory card slot supports cards with up to 32 GB of storage. The tablet also features an accelerometer and gyroscope sensors for motion detection and the battery is a rechargeable lithium polymer unit.
Despite the screen shortcomings, this might be a good tablet for shoppers on a budget or parents looking for the tablet to give children for the first time. At least the tablet is selling for less than we expected when we first heard about it earlier this month.
As noted above, the tablet is priced at $139 and is currently available from various online retailers.
