Actiontec Electronics today announced a new family of wired and wireless Network Attached Storage appliances.

The Actiontec Network Attached Storage and Wireless Network Attached Storage devices are both available in 160 GB, 250 GB, and bring-your-own-drive models, the latter accepting a 3.5 inch IDE drive of any size.

Features include an integrated FTP server and backup utility, UPnP support and both User and Group management for file access permissions. A single USB 2.0 port will share a USB printer via a built-in print server or can be used to expand storage with USB hard and flash drives.

Wireless models include an 802.11 b/g access point that supports only WEP 64/128 bit encryption

Suggested retail for the wired products are $150 for no hard drive, $265 for 160 GB and $330 for 250 GB, while the wireless models are priced at $185 for no hard drive, $299 for 160 GB and $360 for 250 GB. Availability for all models is "mid January" 2006.
