Charlotte (NC) - Cementing its place as the first major US bank to offer a mobile-centric platform, Bank of America has launched a new cell phone portal that lets users manage all major banking activities on the go.
BOA began sampling with the mobile banking network in March, and made it publicly available this week, giving more than 20 million members access to the portal designed and optimized specifically for mobile phones.
Users can manage virtually all of the same tasks that they can from Bankofamerica.com, including balance checks, bill payment, money transfers, and viewing transaction histories.
A couple smaller, regional banks launched similar platforms earlier this year, but Bank of America is the first major national institution to do so.
Bank of America customers can activated acess to the mobile platform, which works with all major carriers, by logging onto www.bofa.mobi.
