Sunnyvale (CA) - Yahoo has finally found a market segment in which it can out-do online giant Google, as its online search engine has become the leader in the mobile search market.
Yahoo's new search platform, Onesearch, is now available for 85% of the currently active phones. It claims it has struck interest because of the platform's "local search", which finds results based on where the user is searching from.
"We are now putting search on every mobile phone that has a browser. We are delivering the results consumers want with just one search, not a list of web links," said Yahoo senior VP Marco Boerries in a statemet.
Yahoo has invested a lot in its mobile search as its main Yahoo.com search engine and related services continue to plummet because of market leader Google.
