Apple announced that it will be rolling out its iPhone 2.0 software update in July. However, only iPhone owners will be able to get the update free of charge: iPod Touch owners will have to pay $9.99, if they want to upgrade.

Among the new features of iPhone 2.0 are a live contact search, iWork support as well as support for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, bulk handling of messages, a new calculator, parental controls and enhanced language support, which now includes character recognition for Asian languages.

More to come.
