New MSI Windows 8 tablet has AMD inside

MSI has debuted a new Windows 8 tablet powered by AMD’s A4-1200 dual-core processor. Key specs include an 11.6 inch display (1366 x 768 pixel IPS), passive cooling,128GB SSD, 2GB of RAM and AMD Radeon HD 8180 graphics.

Additional features? WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 34.78 Whr battery which MSI claims will provide users with approximately 9 hours of run time. Interestingly enough, the tablet boasts a fingerprint reader in addition to the usual tablet motion sensors and automatic light sensor.

According toLiliputing’s Brad Linder, the 720p camera is likely the tablet’s most “underwhelming” feature.

The MSI W20 – which measures 12.2″ x 7.7″ x 0.4″ and weighs 1.5 pounds – is set to hit the market in the near future.

Although pricing has yet to be announced, the AMD-based tablet will find itself competing against a number of devices powered by Intel’s Bay Trail chip such as HP’s recently launched Omni 10.

Notable Omni 10 features include a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, Windows 8.1, Microsoft Office 2013 (pre-loaded), WiFi, Bluetooth, up to 9 hours of battery life, an 8MP camera, a microSD card slot, micro HDMI port and microUSB port.
