Asus 1015E notebook debuts at $300 price point

Asus has debuted a new Windows 8 notebook priced at $300. Dubbed the 1015E, the device features a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron 847 dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and a 10.1 inc, 1366 x 768 pixel display.

As Liliputing's Brad Linder notes, the above-mentioned specs offer users a faster SoC and higher resolution display than any netbook released to date.

"Some folks would say those specs mean it’s not a netbook, but it sort of depends on your definition," Linder explained.

"[Still], in my book, a netbook is a notebook with a 10 inch or smaller display and a low price tag."

In any case, it would be difficult to find a computer with similar specs boasting such a low price tag, which offers users either a 6 or three cell battery.

Additional specs? HDMI and VGA ports, an Ethernet jack, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port and up to 4GB of RAM.

Weight? 2.4 pounds with a 3 cell battery and 2.8 pounds with a 6 cell battery.

It should be noted that the Intel Celeron 847 CPU which powers the Asus 1015E notebook is the same chip that can be found in the recently debuted Acer C7 Chromebook.
