Samsung has officially unveiled its flagship Galaxy S4 (IV) smartphone. Clearly, this handset is all about the slick specs, which boasts a 5-inch 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) Super AMOLED panel rendering a pixel density of 441 ppi.

The Galaxy S4 - which runs Android 4.2 out of the box - also features 2GB of RAM paired with either 16GB/32GB of storage and a 1.6GHz Exynos Octa-core chip or 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm SoC (depending on region).

Additional specs? Micro SD Slot (up to 64GB), Gorilla Glass 3, WiFi 802.11ac (a/b/g/n), an IR blaster, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE, MHL 2.0 (supports a standard MHL connector), a (rear) 13MP BSI camera with f/2.2 aperture/autofocus and a 2MP front-facing camera.

According to a Samsung rep, the S4 features dual-video capture mode, which allows users to record video on both cameras simultaneously, as well as dual video call mode which shows what the user is looking at. Meanwhile, drama shot uses burst mode to create animated GIFs, with sound and shot recording up to 9 seconds of audio to accompany a  still digital photo.

Additional software goodies? New smart gestures, group play (share with other S4 users), smart video pause, smart scroll (tracks the user's face) and air view (use your finger as an S Pen), which offers users previews of e-mail, calendar entries, images and videos.

In terms of size, the GS 4 measures 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm (5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inch) and weighs 130g (4.59 ounces). Meaning, the chassis 0.8mm skinnier, 0.7mm thinner and 3g lighter than its predecessor, even with its larger screen size and 2,600mAh battery.

Unfortunately, pricing has yet to be announced, although we do know the phone will hit the streets in April, courtesy of at least four national networks in the US.
