Verizon is currently rolling out its long-awaited Android Jelly Bean (4.1) update for Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 handset.

Although some users have already received a notification confirming the upgrade is ready, others are finding that a manual forced upgrade via the phone's settings menu (software update) may be required.

However, as Phandroid's Quentyn Kennemer notes, some users may have to wait to be included in Verizon's staggered process, which could take up to three weeks.

New Jelly Bean features include Google Now, Project Butter, revamped notification options, refreshed camera effects and ISIS support for NFC mobile payments.

In related Jelly Bean news, AT&T has confirmed that Jelly Bean is going live for the carrier's Motorola ATRIX HD in an an over-the-air upgrade process.

The ATRIX HD is actually AT&T's fourth Jelly Bean handset , as it joins the ranks of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X+. Devices slated for future Jelly Bean upgrades include the original HTC One X and the LG Optimus G.
