Samsung’s Ativ Windows 8 tablet priced at $800

Samsung’s Ativ Windows 8 tablet will  have an $800 price tag when it hits physical and virtual store shelves at AT&T.

At that price, the x86 device will undoubtedly have some difficuly competing against rival Android, iOS and Windows RT (ARM) tablets.

However, Samsung ‘s Ativ Windows 8 tablet seems to be targeting the corporate world and lucrative enterprise sector, rather than mainstream consumers.

The specs – which are pretty sweet indeed – include  a 1.5 GHz Inte Atom dual-core processor, 4G connectivity, an 11.6-inch HD PLS display, 64GB of internal storage memory and a microSD card slot that supports up to an additional 32GB of memory.

As noted above, the ATIV smart PC arrives pre-installed with Windows 8, which can be easily upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.

Most importantly, however, it is also backward compatible and supports all existing software and applications that run on older windows OS such as Windows 7, Vista, and XP. Of course, only time will tell if the unit’s backward compatibility actually justifies an $800 price tag.

The device will be sold alongside a number of tablet accessories, including a $49 stand dock equipped with a built-in USB port and Ethernet (RJ45) port and $40 VGA adapter.

Samsung’s Ativ Windows 8 tablet will be available in AT&T store on November 9 for $800.
